Ann was born and raised in Tacoma Washington, and was certain in her youth she would grow up to be a musician. She attended the University of Puget Sound with intentions to become a high school band teacher. As she a gifted musician she has played with groups all over the world, including Italy, Washington DC, and most notably, Carnegie Hall in NYC. Graduating in 2008 with a Bachelors in English, she moved to Seattle with her fiance, David. They got married in 2009 and have supported each other through job changes, life’s ups and downs, and David going through Law school, till they bought their house in Ruston in 2016. In September of 2016 we welcomed our first daughter into the world. With that Ann’s interest in the birth world was sparked.

In 2018, after the birth of her second daughter, she took her doula training and quit her job as a regional sales manager for a wine company in January of 2019. After attending her first birth in March of that year, she knew she had found her calling. After months of taking pro bono clients, working diligently on trainings and educations, Ann started as a midwife assistant at Tacoma’s The Birthing Inn - where she had given birth to her own children. Under the arms of the knowledgeable and incredible midwives at the inn, Ann learned and developed her skills as a birth worker - leading her towards the path of midwifery school.

Now as a student at First Light Midwifery, Ann is an integrated part of client care, and is excited to grow as a student midwife.

PHILOSOPHY OF CARE

I believe that pregnancy and birth are healthy, normal, physiological processes. Women/pregnant people have been giving birth since the beginning of humanity, proving the innate ability that all women possess, which enables them to bring forth life into this world. Pregnancy and birth are transformative experiences that can leave a lasting impression on a pregnant person’s body, mind, and spirit. The intensity of these transformations has the ability to affect the entire family. As a midwife I have the honor of: holding space for families along this journey, providing non-biased evidence to enable informed choices, lending my emotional support, and using my clinical experience to ensure the best possible outcomes. Trust is the cornerstone of the relationship between mother and midwife, and I intend to nurture this trust along the path of your pregnancy and birth journey. I have traditional views and practices surrounding birth and midwifery care, balanced by modern clinical knowledge and skills.
